Ementa:

1. Basic kinematical and dynamical features of field theories with two spacial dimensions. Non-abelian Chern-Simons (CS) gauge theories.

2. Canonical quantisation of CS theories. The origin of the massive gauge excitations in CS theories.

3. Self-dual vortices in CS theory with scalar matter fields. Relation to anyon quasi-particles in fractional Hall effect.

4. Chern-Simons terms induced by quantum effects. Maxwell-Chern-Simons models and CS models with spontaneous symmetry breaking.
